Art Icebreakers

My favorite icebreakers are bingo sheets. Somehow, they get students immediately talking to just about everyone in class! For students to get to know one other a bit better, I use Art Icebreaker Bingo because it involves students figuring out what each other’s experience with art is like so far. Squares ask for a student who “has created an artwork outdoors” or whose “favorite medium is clay”. I can then also have students turn the pages in to me so that I can learn about them, because a student who fulfills the requirement on the bingo square must sign that square.

I also like to use Art Quiz Bingo for students that I’ve had before. This way, they also have some background information on art, and it’s more of a competitive challenge to remember art history trivia. Again, we play where any student who can correctly answer a square must sign that square and write in the answer. At the end, anyone with a “bingo” gets checked for accuracy and students are still all working together to get it completed.

Try these with your classes and let me know how it goes!
